so an upperclassmen sent our class this video saying he hopes we're as pumped for recognition as he is... here is my question. Is this really an accurate picture of what recognition will be like? If so, then.... sweet?

Hi, my name is Rachel and I accepted my appointment for the class of 2012. I have been reading some of the posts and all of you seem like very interesting people. I am excited about the academy. I am not too thrilled about BCT, considering I have barely done any physical activity in a while. I need to work on that....but for right now, if anyone would not mind possibly helping with clarification, I have a few questions that I posted as responses but I want to make them public so I could possibly grab more attention and thus, better results. Thank you to anyone willing to help. It is greatly appreciated. A few things:
(1) I received a 20,000 dollar scholarship and I was wondering if I would need it. If I can use it for anything? Will it go to my armed forces bank??
(2) I cannot make it to the appointee orientations and I was wondering if there was a way for me to get my boots an alternative way?
(3) I do not associate with my parents or older relatives and I was wondering if my siblings could come for parent's weekend?
(4) I am taking AP Chemistry, AP Lit, AP Calc, and AP Govt. Could I receive credit for all of those? I also took a bio/ecology class and a statistics class at my local college, can I use those credits. Will I need to send those to the AFA? (My guidance officers are completely useless...)

Thank you. I look forward to meeting some of you that are at the academy.

do any alumni randomly come and read these pages anymore? just curious... especially alumni that happen to be pilots that want to help a freshmen squad that just had their pre-recognition spirit mission plan get screwed and is now desperate for some help? Anyone out there? yes... we are that desperate, because the upperclassem in our squad hate us that much. And i'm sure 1600 of you reading this are all grads that can skywrite or are fighter pilots that live in colorado springs....

life sucks..... but then again, not in 22 days!

EPIC 100's night prank that happened to a friend of mine.

Photobucket

poor guy has his bedding and half his uniforms in there. It took the 4 degrees 4 hours just to get the trunk up there through all the snow and ice. (usually it's a 4 hour round trip with an hour spent at the top)

Hello,

I am a high school senior and received my acceptance letter a few weeks ago. I am currently training for BCT (Basic Cadet Torture as my family calls it) and I am very nervous about those first 6 weeks. Other than physical training, is there any other way that I can prepare?

I also wanted to ask you all's opinion on taking AP tests. Should I take my tests and spend the money, or just take the classes again? If I take an AP test and receive credit do I take the next level of that class or an elective?

Getting ready for BCT [Jan. 21st, 2008|07:52 pm]

Hey guys, I'm a HS senior, class of 2008.  I received and accepted my offer of appointment in mid-December and I'm curious what I need to really work on leading up to BCT.

I have a decent mile time, a faster-than-minimum suicide time (the 10 yard back-and-forth thing), can do 7 pull-ups, 40 push-ups in 2 minutes, 81 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and can throw a b-ball like 60' or something (i can't quite remember).  Basically I have pretty good endurance, a moderate lower body, good abs, and a somewhat lacking upper body.

I'm curious if I should spend my time mostly working on upper body workouts or developing a stronger endurance (are you guys going to yell at me louder to do more push-ups or run faster...I say louder because I'm sure I'll get yelled out about just about everything lol)

Thanks a ton. See you guys in June.

Exciting email I got today, any good ideas? [Jan. 14th, 2008|10:12 pm]

"The Commandant of Cadets has just received a large, undisclosed sum of money to spend on things for the cadet wing…THAT’S YOU.
If you have a great idea of what the money should be spent on please submit them to me no later than lunch tomorrow.
Ideas could include a basketball court for Sijan, additional parking lots, workout equipment for each squad, etc."

Rumor has it the undisclosed sum is $3,000,000

I was thinking new machines for our Laundromats. The current ones have got to be older than some cadets here and their gross lack in efficiency shows.

And after the new washers and driers, one or two Da-20's or Da-40's for the aero club wouldn't be too expensive, since each goes for about $300,000 brand new.

So apparently USAFA is under attack!!

"The denial of service attack is still continuing on a massive scale from numerous European locations. The INOSC needs to continue blocking most email coming into USAFA’s .mil network."

We here at camp usafa haven't been able to send or receive emails outside the network from our assigned email accounts...

And yet I still get advertisements for Viagra and “replica” watches.
